Disaster!

we had at least six chicks yesterday -seemingly getting bigger and stronger-first sign of feathers showing-just over a week old. This morning only two in nest!

parenticide? rats? illness?

Kids were v upset. The natural world is tough place!

oh NO! Are there any signs of the poor chicks outside the box? I fear that a predator might have taken them. Have a look around the outside of the box. Are the parents feeding the remaining 2?

This is desperately sad news Mile Oak. Have the poor chicks disappeared completely from the box? Are there any signs that a predator has been in? Are the two in the nest ok, and any sign of the parents?

Nature can certainly be very cruel at times.
